The 'decolonisation' of Western academia vis-a-vis Russia -- even where it exists as an initiative -- remains dangerously shallow. Set habits will not be changed by a few publications or conferences. What is needed is sustainable funding, and with funding will come prestige.
In that sense, academia is no different from any other area of life. People are very resistant to change, unless there are sufficient levers and serious enough political will to force change on them, or to attract them to it.
