Here's a take; most top producing brokers I know have strong university pedigrees
@MattLasky You don't need a degree to be successful "in real estate" or brokerage, more specifically, but it definitely helps. I say this as someone who went to one of the "right schools" to work in my market.
@MattLasky I think it matters more for investment sales than people think. Leasing? All personality. I/S half personality/half being smart (or appearing to be smart)
@MattLasky Largest properties we've ever sold were sold by brokers we selected prior to a handshake. Smart. Connected at the highest levels. Great reputations. Highly educated. No handshake. Guys crushed it.
@MattLasky The discourse has swung so far that we’ve forgotten the basics- undergrad is a decent proxy for intelligence and conscientiousness. And I say that as someone who went to maybe the most average state school in the US.
Disagree. By the time you’re 18 it’s too late for any school to make a difference. If you did an autopsy on their education it would probably include private school for grades 6-12. The young people I met who went to private school are so far ahead by the time they hit college. College is a joke to them. You’re using a good college as a proxy but the real foundation started much earlier.
