Kindergarteners enjoyed a Hanukkah party this week complete with games, a story, and sweet treats. Thank you to the Goldsteins for making this such a fun celebration!
The Kindergarteners earned a whopping $900 to spend on new toys by doing jobs at home and in their neighborhoods. They had a great time shopping at Target this morning for toys to donate to Toys for Tots.
Who to put in charge when you want something done right? A Mason Prep mom! Thank you for organizing the delicious Chick-Fil-A morning biscuit sales!
The MPS World Cup wrapped up last week with the hispanophones sweeping the francophones. Well played, everyone!
Kindergarteners "saved the earth" using math! Wearing special capes with their superhero name ("Recycle Man"), how they help save the Earth (recycling), and 2 things they recycle (cans and boxes), students zoomed around the classroom solving math problems to defeat villains.
Congrats to our students who were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society today. "The NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship."
The Mason Prep Foundation’s most recent investment in the Mason Prep experience includes new music instruments for students!
6th graders decided it is time to add strawberries, lettuce, peppers, kale, basil, and flowers to their hydroponic system. Students are planting seeds & established plants and determining how to run fertilizer through the system. They are taking risks and adjusting where needed!
6th graders are learning about animal adaptations. In one activity, they made "wings" and practiced hovering like a hummingbird. In another activity, they learned about the importance of opposable thumbs. Everyday tasks take longer and are WAY harder without opposable thumbs!
7th graders are putting together a new computer using parts from the school's old laptops. Says Mrs. Martin, "This was fully their idea and they are running the show - exactly how science class should be!"
This week, we will be featuring students, teachers, parents, and more on social media sharing why they love Mason Prep.
This thoughtful student collected 5 lbs of pop tabs to donate to @RMHCCharleston ! RMHC takes the tabs to a local aluminum recycler, and the money is used to keep RMHC open and able to serve families. You can learn more about this program here: rmhcharleston.org/pop-tabs/
Kindergarteners learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and shared their own dreams for our community and the world.
