Stuck in a traffic jam on the M42, I couldn't help but notice that much of the plastic & other detritus consisting of traffic cones, signs, abandoned frames and other material had been left behind by those responsible for the upkeep of our dual carriageways. @cleanupbritain

Yes - that’s true. Ironically, @NationalHways and its contractors are serial offenders. So, the people who are paid billions to look after the motorway network are actually trashing it. Let’s just hope the Labour Party gets to grips with this national shame if/when they come to power. Any thoughts @SteveReedMP ??
@MarkSeddon1962 @cleanupbritain Given that much of our roads are covered by CCTV a good revenue stream for the next Labour Govt might be to start fining those caught throwing litter out of their cars. £1000 per time and 3 points on the licence and the problem would soon be solved.
@MarkSeddon1962 @cleanupbritain yeah - I was shocked how bad it's got. I thought it was just a pandemic thing - but the roads, verges, etc are in a truly awful state. Shameful for an "advanced" country.
