Ontario is a place where everyone should be free to wear whatever piece of clothing proudly reflects their heritage. Our legislature should be no different. 🧵
That’s why when I found out last week that legislative security had recently begun prohibiting the wearing of keffiyehs by Members, staff and the public, I wrote the Speaker to urge him to change this ruling.
Wearing cultural & national clothing items in our Assembly is something we should be proud of. It is part of the story of who we are as a province. Palestinians are part of that story, and the keffiyeh is significant not only to them but to many in the Arab and Muslim community.

@MaritStiles We have freedom of expression until it passes into hate speech. You know very well these scarves are meant to intimidate and promote hate. Very disappointing. The NDP has shown its antisemitism since 10/7. We can hope the next election wipes you off the electoral map.
