Marimba Milliones, head of Hill CDC, thanks PAR for the $2 surcharge, but notes that the developers' updates to Planning Commission didn't come in until after today's meeting started. Further adds that other promises to the community remain outstanding.
A number of different speakers asking Planning Commission to not vote today, and instead reconvene so that: the commission can review the developers' more than 100-page submission that came in after the meeting started today, and there can be communication with the community
The developers addressed that late-breaking submission at the top of the meeting: said those 100-plus pages don't really contain new info. Instead, they contain up-to-the-minute reporting on objectives that Planning Commission asked them for
Pastor Dale Snyder of Bethel AME thanked everyone for their support, urged teamwork and community-building
Councilor Daniel Lavelle asks that if Planning Commission does vote and approves today that they do so with conditions: to attach the CCIP, to ensure private streets truly remain public, and for the developers to bring proposal to move Curtain Call location to the community
Commissioner LaShawn Burton-Faulk introduced the idea that a continuance would be the way to go, citing community concerns about lack of transparency and the need for better transparency. (that 100-page document)
The developers say that really has nothing to do with the vote at issue today, that it's all compliance reporting on another project (G1--the FNB office tower)
But Burton-Faulk respectfully notes that may be the case, but "what we have is a little bit of a trust issue." If the community hasn't had a chance to review that 100-page document, it sows distrust
The commission votes to continue, asks Councilor Lavelle to put something together for the developers to communicate with the community
Given that, Burton-Faulk asks if they should table the scheduled vote on the proposed music venue
The commission took a five-minute break which in my household means a five-minute break to go snuggle the baby. She of the 1,733 nicknames.
The commission reconvenes and officially votes to continue the vote on the Lower Hill's Preliminary Land Development Plan. To maintain quorum, Commissioner Burton-Faulk makes a motion to also hold the vote on the proposed music venue.
