If you're wonder why there's a lot of criticism of Langchain, take a look at the @vercel ai sdk for reference. Fully working chat app (Frontend and backend) in 60 lines of code. With great documentation and best practices Highly recommend trying if you're using Js/Ts.

Any way to speed up readability is a big win. This example is so small it doesn't really matter, but imagine if you have many helper functions and constants etc that come before the exports.

Readability is massively impactful. Put the most important stuff at the top and let people dig into more granular details only if needed. Then they don't have to scroll down through a bunch of the "internal dependencies" of the module just to get the gist of it.

I will never understand putting the implementation details of a module at the top of the file. This is a rando example from the Next.js docs (I'm a huge fan of Next.js, so this is absolutely not a knock on them but just mentioning to convey how prevalent this pattern is).
