It’s not just that Katie Britt’s story was false (since the woman she cited was trafficked by cartels within Mexico). It’s that the border policy she supports would be to send victims like that back to Mexico into the hands of the cartels, with no chance to seek asylum.

@Malinowski Nor did it make sense as part of our border (non)policy anyway, since what does being raped by the cartel have anything to do with trying to cross the border? If anything, if this story had been true, one would think it drive up sympathy to get more immigrants into this country.
@Malinowski @anneapplebaum Yes!!! She simply did not think through the implications of the story she told.
@Malinowski @gtconway3d Fundamentally the things Republicans cry about are evils they can’t inflict on others.
@Malinowski @MiaFarrow She also claimed to have met this woman, which she clearly didn't. Why is the media not mentioning that and asking her when and where this meeting took place.
@Malinowski It doesn’t matter to Republicans if it was a lie or doesn’t make sense..everything they say is meant to make people react emotionally with outrage against their opponents. They stand for nothing but their endless need for power. Lie to voters to get it? Sure.
@Malinowski SHE LIED ABOUT AND SMEARED THE SITTING PRESIDENT
