Is X a Newspaper or a Telephone!? The Supreme Court is grappling with Social Media sites and “to whether the platforms are like newspapers, which have free speech rights to make their own editorial decisions, or if they're more like telephone companies, that merely transmit everyone's speech.” cbsnews.com/news/scotus-gr…
@MailePRMedia Phone companies have gotten complaints for decades like any other company. People abuse and companies step in 🫶to keep everyone happy. You can’t call people and leave them threatening messages or you will be arrested . We now have call blocking and other resources available
@MailePRMedia It boils down to this: are social media companies: A platform? (like Verizon or T-Mobile) A publisher? (like Simon & Schuster) Platforms are non-contributing public spaces. A publisher can determine what they print or produce.
@MailePRMedia In my opinion, it’s more like a telephone than a newspaper. X doesn’t publish information; it’s a place for people to share information and communicate with each other.
@MailePRMedia Newspaper on web 🦖 Phone on mobile…🎢
@MailePRMedia the question is flawed because phone conversations are considered private. on X we broadcast our conversations for anyone to listen or even chime in. so it's more like talk radio, where anyone can phone in, i guess 🤷
