@2Bogan2Lastard My read of “orienting toward winning over” is an attitudinal one. Are we focused on trying to push on a rope and wield leverage that we don’t yet have to bring people into step? Or are we focusing on trying to produce popular support for socialism where the opportunity arises?

@2Bogan2Lastard I don’t think it’s tailing to be aware of the tactical difficulty of our position in the US pop, particularly among the working class. Can’t lead people that hate us or who we treat as unfixably regressive and are unwilling to (contextually) work w/ if they don’t meet standards

A central divide within DSA is whether we should be primarily orienting to winning over people to our political right or to our left This convention has so far chosen the latter, and I think that's a serious mistake in a country where 99% of people are to our right

@katewillett people in every corner of DSA act badly online about 6 times a year, some more frequently than others. I’m just going to assume that you’ve not been around long enough to have watched RS and LSC members issue death threats. And yet new people join everyday despite it all.
