Tensions are rising in #Yemen's Amran province. Arhab tribes are protesting after Houthis abducted the daughter of a slain tribal leader (from Arhab) to force her to drop charges against her husband, a Houthi supervisor. The tribes called for Nakaf (mobilization) in Amran today.

A tanker acquired by the UN for $55m to prevent a massive oil spill off Yemen is essentially being used by the #Houthis as floating storage for Russian oil, while costs for running the vessel are still being fronted by the UN. The UN purchased the VLCC Yemen in 2023 as part of an operation to salvage the oil on board FSO Safer, a 49-year-old floating storage unit that was in danger of sinking. Houthis are going through their worst PR crisis since October 7th. Now, they’re desperately trying to cover up their latest heinous crime (the killing of 70-year-old Sheikh Saleh Hantous) and spread pathetic justifications and excuses to the few supporters they have left in the Arab world. Overnight, many of their former sympathizers, people who once called them heroes, have turned on them, now labeling them as nothing more than militias and gangsters. For the Houthis, who spent years chasing regional and international sympathy, this is a serious setback.

Was on @Channel8English when news of US strikes broke. The concern was blowback. But this isn’t the start of a war; it’s the culmination of months of targeting. Hezbollah weakened. IRGC commanders killed. Houthi missiles intercepted. Israel clipped IRGC's wings before attacking.
The UN’s concern is fair. But for years, Iran used its nuclear program as a shield against accountability.
