1. Battery no longer holds a charge for 5 minutes on handheld vac 2. Look up replacement batteries 3. Replacement battery costs more than vac did 🤦🏻♀️ 4. Watches this year’s vacuum wars 5. Confirms the battery is also more expensive than 2024’s winner 6. Landfill lamentations
@Lyons_Pen Landfill will be at a premium when EVs start ditching their enormous batteries. Like your vac, an EV bought 2 years ago now is worth less than the price of a new battery. If it fails, all you can do is throw the whole lot away. What fun they have stored up for us. 🤣
@Lyons_Pen Yup, even if we want not to be wasteful, companies nowadays make it difficult or impossible. Discontinued models, expensive spare parts. Planned obsolescence. You don't have enough memory to update your phone to keep it working? Live in a cave! You have to pay rent though.
@Lyons_Pen It’s so ridiculous! I had a battery go bad on an 18v electric drill. I went to get a new battery and it was more expensive than the new drill and battery combo pack. I ended up buying 2 drills(we were doing a full house remodel ourselves). I have 3 drills and 2 batteries now.
@Lyons_Pen Commiserations for your landfill woes. (Also, David Tennant was the best Dr. Who since Tom Baker.)
@Lyons_Pen Buy low-tech stuff. Secondhand if you can. Well, not secondhand vacuum cleaners, of course.
@Lyons_Pen Rice cooker. The interior pot got scratched and no longer is nonstick. Price of replacement $45. Price of rice cooker? $32.
@Lyons_Pen It's alright, we got a spare planet or two!
