Authors with spouses who don’t read, would they read your book? #WritingCommunity
@LuluFairbank If I were married, I imagine my spouse would make me read my book to him at bedtime, because he needs his beauty sleep 💤
@LuluFairbank Who would marry a person who doesn't read? 😜
@LuluFairbank No. My husband has severe dyslexia. The only book he's read is Hitchhiker's when he was a teen. It took him months. He says when he reads, he doesn't see anything mentally. When I read, it's like I'm watching a movie.
@LuluFairbank I think they have better things to do.
My wife reads a vanishingly small amount of poetry, but the one piece she reads every few years is mine. I could look at it as almost total disinterest in my work - but I'd rather look at it as an almost total disinterest in poetry, and a few of my works are the ones that change her mind :)
@LuluFairbank My husband reads the NYTimes from cover to cover! He reads Italian newspapers & he used to read lots of magazines! He reads! He just doesn’t read my work. He says he doesn’t understand my poetry & he’s only read one of my novels 📕
