Every morning after I've had a programme on @BBCTwo my inbox gets delightfully full of messages from men who didn't like my lipstick. It makes me feel like it's 1922 and I'm being castigated by Captain Hastings for being 'fast'.
'Now I am old-fashioned. A woman, I consider, should be womanly. I have no patience with the modern neurotic girl. I looked up, frowning slightly, into an impudent face, her lips were quite impossibly scarlet.' Oh, Hastings, hasn't the world gone mad?
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo I am rather a fan of your lipstick!
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo @Lucy_Worsley some folk are a little odd eh? Great programmes that i enjoy immensely 👌
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo You are simply a gem. Wife and I adore your work and you're on our rather short list of great celebrities we'd love to meet someday. With wit and grace like that, I have to think @MichelleObama would be a fan, as well!
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo Wait till they start on your hair
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo It's practically your trademark by now. They probably tell Portillo off for his jackets and trousers too.
@Lucy_Worsley @BBCTwo Now we've just had a little panic that we'd missed one of your wonderful programmes we hadn't seen. But we had seen this when it was first on. #KeepWearingTheLippy
