A safe journey home began yesterday for 22 migrants from Ethiopia, Kenya & Madagascar evacuated from Lebanon. Since Oct 2024, #COMPASSIOM, funded by @DutchMFA , supported 697 migrants with safe evacuation assistance, while many more still await support.@NLinLebanon #SafeMigration

I had a great meeting yesterday with H.E. Lt. Gen. @malsubihi1 of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council. The exchange underscored IOM’s readiness to scale up support for stronger institutional capacities and migration governance, aligned with national priorities.

Today at Al Maashiq Palace, I met with @Yemen_PM Dr. @Shaya_Zindani. We discussed strengthening collaboration on migration, durable solutions to displacement, support to vulnerable communities, including development and recovery needs and Yemen’s participation in IMRF 2026.
In #Aden, I visited the Migrant Response Point, a lifeline delivering critical assistance and protection to migrants after often perilous journeys. Amid heightened risks, IOM remains committed to protecting and assisting people on the move so that they are not left behind
In Al-Tuwahi district, Aden, I visited Basuhaib School, renovated by IOM in 2022, and saw its impact on more than 800 children and host communities. Yet needs persist, and under current projects, IOM will rehabilitate 17 schools in the coming months. Education is key to recovery.

Today I visited Tres Marias and met the inspiring women behind this migrant-led initiative. Since the escalation began, they have been preparing 150-300 hot meals each day for displaced migrant communities in Beirut & Mount Lebanon, a powerful example of solidarity.
