It’s been 61 days since Sony announced their plan to end physical media🚀 To this day, outrage has expanded worldwide and went way beyond social media gaming spheres, but extended to mainstream media and gaming conventions. ✅Sales figures have shown high demand for physical games around the world ✅Resident Evil Requiem and Assassin’s Creed Shadows sold over 40-50% physical in territories like France, Japan, UK and Australia ✅64% of world countries have no dedicated PlayStation Store, meaning an all-digital future leaves them with no official access to games ✅PlayStation Store has no option to change region, meaning if you move to another country, you need to make a new account in the new region in order to use a local credit card, provided they even have a dedicated store to begin with ✅We have seen time and time again that digital games, movies, shows, music and books can be removed without compensation from digital store fronts, due to licensing agreements and various other reasons ✅Losing access to your account means losing all your games, and many have reported inefficient support teams when it comes to restoring lost access ✅Network outages have stood in the way of people accessing their digital games ✅Code-in-a-box games are region locked ✅Taking away physical games ends second hand market and trading ✅Digital-only future eliminates competition and leads to higher pricing, and it’s already evident with dynamic and regional pricing being introduced ✅Physical sales are high even if the percentage goes as low as 10% because that’s still millions of people ✅Publishers calculate microtransactions, DLC, free-to-play and digital only games as “digital sales” which inflates their the numbers of digital sales, and engineers a fake narrative that physical games are too niche to matter ✅PlayStation 6 and Project Helix are estimated to cost around $1000, which leaves little incentive to buy games priced from $70-100 and more, on an expensive console and PS5 barely showed any innovation in games compared to PS4 with hardly any games pushing the system’s power to its maximum or showing any true leap, and losing physical media leaves little to no incentive to buy a console when PC, while digital, offers way more options, higher specs, DRM-free, modding and generally way more games old and new ✅Exclusives are taking 5-7 years or more to come out, meaning buying consoles for the sake of exclusives is becoming pointless since a whole generation could pass with only 1 game from a first party studio Physical media MUST stay, the same way books still come to print, music (including video games soundtracks especially for Sony games) continues to be released on vinyl, CD and cassette and films and shows keep coming on Blu-Ray. There are many ways to make production or physical games more efficient, but ending them is not the way. We MUST speak up, and protest within our legal rights as customers to defend physical games, because ending physical media harms digital gaming fans, not just physical ones. NO DISC 💿 NO BUY

I know stepping away from PlayStation isn’t easy. I’ve spent YEARS playing that shit, collecting for it, and making content around it. So when I see people saying they could barely make it a week without their PlayStation, I get it. We can live without it for a damn minute. Gaming has changed a lot since we were younger, especially with how fucking digital everything has become. There are other consoles, other games, retro games, or hell go touch some grass. 😂 The first week is done (month for me). I’m keeping mine going through September.
