@BadMedicalTakes Recently found out from who? Some guy on the corner you smoked a blunt with?
@IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes This guy has confused ADHD with the concept of “Object Permanence” which an infant learns, & even smart animals learn, that objects, when concealed (by, say a box or blanket, like with the game of Peek-a-boo) still exist, but are just hidden.
@quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes He didn't confuse them. People with adhd can have object permanence issues. Not everyone of course. People with ADHD can have a myriad of different issues and each person can have a different set of them.
@AmytheDoomwitch @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes Source please. Everything I can find says there is a theory on this but doesn't seem to have been really research with anything to back it up. It's just speculation at this point.
@brokeassley @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes There isn't. Object permanence is a theory. Most studies surround infant development but ADHD "out of sight out of mind" inattention is so similar that it's being described as object permanence. ADHD has been severely understudied.
@AmytheDoomwitch @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes Technically anything in science is a theory but object permanence has a lot of thorough research backing it up. It is something in infant development. They develop it at around 8 months in average. In relation to ADHD it is speculation based on the research related to infants.
@AmytheDoomwitch @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes ADHD is pretty well studied too. There is absolutely more they can learn and research. There always is. We don't know that much about the brain overall but ADHD is definitely a focus for researchers.
@AmytheDoomwitch @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes It's also kind of wild to give a blanket statement of "people with adhd are incapable of missing people" for something that hasn't even been researched.
@brokeassley @AmytheDoomwitch @quickbrownfox12 @IamXoXoRoe @BadMedicalTakes Yeah that guys an idiot. I miss a lot of people. Friends, family, dogs long gone, sewing machines
