#RathYatra or “Kang” is a beautiful festival celebrated by #MeiteiHindus in #Manipur. As it is observed in other parts of the country, the idols of Shri Jaganatha, Shri Balarama and Shri Subhadra are drawn in the beautifully decorated Rath at Shri Govindaji Temple. #PrayForPeace
After the procession of Rath-Yatra of Shri Govindajee temple Raths of others localities in Imphal area and in other villages start their own processions with sankirtana. At every gate of the house people offer flowers, fruits and sweets wherever the procession goes.
@LogIQ_al @eowyn050 @MeiteiAMA @2020MediaTrial @meiteiheritage Adding some pictures from our local Leikai (locality) Kaang celebrations from a couple of years ago. This is one of our biggest festivals lasting 9 days. We will not have a #RathYatra (Kaang chingba) this year, but may Lord Jagannath bless us all, during these dark times.
@LogIQ_al @MeiteiAMA @2020MediaTrial @meiteiheritage As a child I would look forward to nightly feasts of Khechi and Ooti Thongba served on Thamna (lotus leaves). We would make garlands from lotus seeds and flowers for Jagabondhu (Lord Jagannath), and watch our elders sing hymns and dance (Joydep chongba).
