My HVAC system went out this week, in the middle of a heat wave. Air would circulate, but it was not cool at all. Using only @grok, I was able to diagnose and fix the problem: the condenser fan wasn’t spinning, even though the motor was running. Grok told me the most likely culprit was a bad capacitor and that replacing it should fix the problem (first photo). It linked to the exact replacement part on Amazon and showed me how to discharge the old capacitor before hooking up the new (second photo). Once back together, I powered back on the unit and had a spinning condenser fan (third gif)! Only cost me about $100 and about an hour of work!
