Anyone can provide liquidity in Uniswap, but the question is how to coordinate and get it done at right time and is it a good risk to take single-handedly.
@Glyn06491407 I am not an expert, but as for I know it is possible that players individually provide liquidity on uniswap right?
It’s likely E2 fears that provisioning liquidity could be seen by regulators as a token sale by proxy. This is because E2 would be providing the ability to buy/sell and set the initial price. Users would effectively be buying token from Earth 2 through that $liquidity pool.
The downsides is low liquidity can lead to price volatility & increased risk as prices fluctuate as well as failed transactions costing fees. Important to also note the 1st liquidity provider for a trading pair on Uniswap decides the price #Essence is initially listed for.
If E2 are not going to provide any liquidity, they cannot manage this starting price. This has benefits from a regulatory point of view, but this might be something that Earth 2 wants to manage themselves rather than leave up to the community to decide.
So, if Earth 2 aren’t providing liquidity, what does it mean when they say they are launching on Uniswap? Here are some possibilities:
Announcement by Uniswap & E2. The socials of both companies cud announce the token is tradable. This seems a bit unlikely as Uniswap doesn't usually announce new trading pairs & if there is no liquidity, it wud cause frustration to anyone trying to trade if it immediately fails.
Provide Liquidity: Earth 2 could surprise players & decide to provide liquidity. Again unlikely, there is no reason this would need to be by stealth+with regulators in the US currently looking at Uniswap, the worries around liquidity have increased rather than decreased recently.
Confusing Token Generation Event (TGE) with a Token Listing: A TGE involves the technical generation of the token on the blockchain listing is providing liquidity. Unlikely: Uniswap was specifically mentioned and TGE’s do not inherently include an exchange in the process.
Webpage Liquidity: #Earth2 enable a liquidity method through the Earth 2 platform. In theory Essence could be ‘pooled’ by 1000s of small players and added to a Uniswap liquidity pool via the webpage integration, perhaps bypassing gas fees.
This would require significant technical integration between Earth 2 and the Ethereum blockchain. Issues here are the amount integration needed, gas fees, & if this is enough to claim that E2 as a company are not providing the liquidity if it is still done through the platform.
Team Tokens: @theshaneisaac or other team members provide liquidity as individuals not as a company. Is there a legal distinction between the company providing liquidity & the team? How many tokens are unlocked now and is it enough?
Micro Liquidity: #Earth2 provide say just $1000 worth of liquidity. The benefit being they can do it ahead of an announcement and because they're the 1st liquidity provider they decide the initial price of Essence.
An advantage here is that In terms of regulatory scrutiny, this is likely to be negligible as a low $ amount of liquidity could not realistically be classed as a sale, but would allow Earth 2 control of the listing time and price. This seems most likely to me if I were to guess.
Final Thoughts: These are shower thoughts on what E2 might mean by ‘listing on Uniswap’, I've no insider information & it may be none of these, but my 10 years in crypto has me scratching my head. What do you think? What will happen when Essence finally lists on Uniswap?🌍2⃣ 📈
