I've started coaching our @GHGullsFC Academy B13 team (meaning BU11) within only 2 weeks I've fallen in love with coaching this age group! They are so eager to learn, they want to play and want to improve so clearly. Each new skill that is presented to them, they grab it and run!

College soccer is NOT club soccer. If you have ambitions to play college soccer at the highest level you absolutely must watch college soccer at the highest level. Tonight provides an excellent opportunity to see the college game played at a super high standard. @AthleticsKC

There are 3 types of advantages in soccer. Numerical Situational Positional How many players understand the game to even this basic level? Now how many can identify them during play? This is a basic threshold for an elite player imo

2 years after the fact, and I know without a doubt, that moment made me who I am today as a coach. Those 2 hours of self reflection and deep questioning to find answers, it pushed me to be the best coach I can be. Proud of how far I've come in that time but it wasn't easy.

Pt.2 After the match and the bus ride to the school, I told the boys to shake it off and go again. From 10pm-12am, I sat in the equipment shed looking out to the dark field crying. Questioning myself and my choice to coach, was I even right for this?

I still remember a match where we had only a center ref who wouldn't leave the center circle. We lost by a ridiculous scoreline where 50% of the goals were offsides (I coached the kid on the other team and he even told me after which goals were offside that he had scored lol) pt1

Christmas is a kindly reminder of when I guest coached a U15 girls team for a night and I ended it with, "if you can believe in Santa for 10-12 years, you can believe in yourself for 90 mins" ... To which one girl looked at me with tears in her eyes and said, "he's not real?"
