The more specific your niche, the more important it is to stand out When direct competitors target the same audience as yours, good editing becomes a competitive advantage It sets you apart from generic AI-generated content Here's a snippet I edited for a client in a subniche

20, 30 min VSLs used to be everywhere Lately, I've noticed a shift toward shorter, ~5 min VSLs that communicate value as quickly as possible That's why I suggested a short and hyper-engaged editing approach for this client Here's a short clip of the result ↓

Ever wondered why Devin Jatho’s editing feels so premium? You only really understand it when you recreate it yourself... This was my trial in his style, and it showed me how much intentionality goes into every detail

I need more J-cuts, faster pacing, shorter pauses, I need to cut EVERYTHING to increase watch time😭!! No You need to create expectation and make the viewer feel like they’re progressing as the video goes on “Later in this video” clear sections, visual milestones, callbacks...

Just edit like the channel is yours I’m not talking about style I’m talking about understanding the subject If you’re editing a trading video without understanding trading, you’re making visual decisions almost blindly The better you understand the niche, the better

Devin Jatho genuinely changed how a lot of editors approach motion design and visual storytelling. Tried recreating that style in this short. What do you guys think about his style of editing?

@ImanEdits Not only that, but showing things like websites, familiar interfaces, and so on creates a stronger connection with the audience and provides more education for the viewers

Hey editor, listen to me... Whenever possible, use real visuals instead of animating something generic, even if your animation is insane😉

3 - Being easy to work with is a skill Communicate early, ask the right questions, understand feedback, and stay consistent. Clients aren’t just hiring your editing skills. They’re hiring the confidence that the project will get done well without becoming another problem.

2- Edit for the goal, not to impress other editors Not every video needs the Iman Gadzhi style. Research the niche, competitors, and audience, then edit to make the idea easy to understand while building authority for your client.

Making a beautiful video means very little to your client if you’re not doing these 3 things. And I learned this the hard way ↓

I’d like to ask the editors here: Are you still spending hours learning advanced motion graphics, Blender, or 3D, or are you focusing more on composition and visual direction? Now that AI is speeding up many of the technical tasks?
