(4/4) This category explains why those who equally claim Scripture’s authority, inerrancy, necessity, and clarity still come to different conclusions about the meaning of the text. The cause of the disunity is not the text, but the interpreters, who disagree on method.
(3/4) A vivid example of such an error can be seen in those who practice 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺. Proponents claim a very high view of Scripture. But a misunderstanding of the nature of inspiration leads them to believe that every number in Scripture has a hidden meaning.
(2/4) Errors of this kind result when the interpreter either misunderstands the nature of the biblical text (i.e., he misunderstands inspiration) or chooses an interpretive approach that is inconsistent with the nature of the text (i.e., he misunderstands the appropriate method).
(1/4) The 2nd category of errors in interpretation arise from an application of 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴. Whereas a low view of Scripture characterized the 1st category, this category is made up of those who affirm Scripture’s ultimate authority but still err.

(1/3) The 3rd major category of errors in biblical interpretation consists of those committed due to 𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 in exegesis. An interpreter may affirm a high view of Scripture and correctly understand Scripture’s inspiration and its implications for hermeneutics,

(3/3) This explains why those who share the same convictions about Scripture and the same hermeneutic can still arrive at different conclusions. The fault, of course, is not with the biblical text. The fault is inherent to the reader.
