One more thing about that Lalas tweet is the warning he landed on, the caution for the team, is that they have become “unlikeable.” Oh no! Not unlikeable women! It’s an eye-rolling measure of nothing, soaked in sexism.
As someone who enjoys likes and attends women’s sport why can I not like the woman’s soccer team. When Rapinoe is asked her favorite moment she answers equal pay. She kneels, she’s completely disrespectful at every turn. Has nothing to do with Women’s Sports but what the stars determined was more important. To me they set back women’s sports years. Plenty of Women’s stars to like, love watching the Aces play but why would I like , respect or pay to watch someone who forms my stomach. It’s not a women’s spots things it’s a can’t stand the players thing. Have a good Warriors season.
@KerithBurke I don't know. I think there are a lot of people who don't want social studies lectures when they watch sports. From men or women. They want sports
@KerithBurke He has been “unlikeable” for a very long time.
@KerithBurke Sorry, Mr. Power Rankings Every Five Minutes, there isn't an "unlikeable" player in the bunch.
@KerithBurke He fails to see that with a tweet he has made himself unlikeable and diminished his appeal as a commentator.
@KerithBurke And former athlete It’s the Barry Bonds = unlikeable Vs. Alex Rodriguez = likeable Personality disagreements should never change the narrative on the games US Women’s soccer has been the standard bearer for decades. Tough loss. But the victories clearly outweigh any negatives
@KerithBurke Unlikeable Well, you got a break a couple of eggs if you want to make an omelette. Most people who made advances or were agents of change in some field…..sports only being one of them, were considered unlikeable.
@KerithBurke Imagine the backlash if the comment had been about men in sport but within the context of their race.
