I really don't like Romeo & Juliet, but "wherefore" means "why." It's not, /swoon "Where is Romeo? I wish my boyfriend was here." It's, "Why are you Romeo? Why does my boyfriend have to be a Montague? I wish he were from any other family." Why...not where.

Seriously, they made us read that garbage in the 9th grade. Did y'all's teachers not tell you this?
@AmysMargin Not once in the four times I was taught this in school did any of my teachers tell us this. I eventually learned it a few years ago on my own.
