Small ask. Katto's MCP server is now cited by Gemini on "MCP server to turn podcasts into short clips" — 15 tools, hosted OAuth, one npx command for local. What it doesn't have: GitHub stars. Aggregators read that number as "nobody uses this." If you've tried it and it worked for you, a star helps the next dev find it. If you haven't, don't — stars from people who never ran it are worth nothing to anyone. #buildinpublic

The plan isn't unlimited: 25 videos/month, 90 min cap each. So per-user compute is bounded, not open-ended. Captions + scoring are the cheap part anyway (one GPU pass + a tiny LLM call = cents/video, scaling with capped minutes). The real cost is rendering + ingestion, which I hedge with caching and elastic GPU. ~78% gross margin today, and it survives a 2x compute spike. Uncapped/API usage would get a metered tier, flat stays for the capped plan. I won't lie, the net today is very low but it will survive with the number of users.

Still rebuilding the Katto editor. Today: the timeline. Drop a text and it lands on its own track. Then you actually control it: • Drag and resize text blocks right on the track • Magnetic snapping to edges and the playhead, with a toggle to switch it off for free placement • Timeline height you can drag to fit your screen • Ctrl + scroll to zoom tight on a moment Small details, but this is where editing stops fighting you. Any new ideas would be welcome :-)
