Mr. Chambers was a former employee of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, President of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, former Indiana Governor candidate, and recipient of tax credits to build housing in the Purdue Discovery Park. Chambers company, Buckingham Management LLC, created housing opportunities for Purdue students and accessed "tax credits" from his former employer, IEDC, to construct the buildings per public access records. Previously Chambers collaborated with the former Governor Mitch Daniels to transition the Indiana Chamber of Commerce into the Indiana Economic Develoment Corporation; the elusive public-private-partnership to access public assets for private development. Daniels continues to use the Purdue Research Foundation as the "private" entity to create "economic development" using Hoosier taxpayer resources. Purdue University is ground zero for the many "Partnerships" being created with the IEDC Tax Credit incentives. Dr. Mung Chiang is currently the President of Purdue University, having assumed office on January 1, 2023 and was a former consultant with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation prior to his appointment. Purdue University has been actively soliciting H1-B employees to fill American jobs under Chiang's leadership. Chiang will depart the university on July 1, 2026, to become the president of Northwestern University. Purdue University President Emeritus Mitch Daniels will step in to serve as interim president. SK Hynix, a semiconductor business, participated in the federally funded CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 and utilized $485 million in Federal Subsidy and $700 million in IEDC Tax Credits to develop a factory in Lafayette, Indiana in the Purdue Discovery Park. During a five-day enforcement operation from May 11-15, 2026, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 52 individuals illegally present in the United States along major Arizona highways (I-8, I-10, and I-40). Of those arrested, 36 were found actively operating commercial vehicles—many with commercial driver’s licenses issued from California, New York, Washington, and Virginia despite their illegal status. The individuals were nationals of India, Turkey, Mexico, Russia, and El Salvador. Several individuals possessed Employment Authorization Documents, which were obtained during the previous administration that are no longer valid. INDIANA ANNEXATION OF ILLINOIS COUNTIES The one-sided exploratory effort by Indiana to potentially absorb up to 33 specific rural and conservative-leaning counties from Illinois along or near their shared border continues to be discussed. This stems from frustration in downstate Illinois over Chicago-dominated politics, taxes, and policies. Here’s the current status as of June 2026:Background Starting around 2020, a growing number of Illinois counties (eventually 33) held non-binding advisory referendums asking voters whether they wanted to explore leaving Illinois and forming a new state (sometimes called “New Illinois” or similar movements). These counties are mostly in central and southern Illinois. In 2025, Indiana Republican lawmakers (led by House Speaker Todd Huston) responded by passing House Enrolled Act 1008. It created the Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission to study whether those counties could be transferred to Indiana instead of becoming their own state. It was signed into law by Indiana Gov. Mike Braun and took effect July 1, 2025. Indiana appointed 6 members; Illinois was invited to appoint up to 5 but declined (no companion legislation passed in Illinois, and Gov. J.B. Pritzker called the whole thing a “stunt”). The commission’s first (and so far only public) meeting was October 22, 2025, in Terre Haute. It heard testimony from residents who want to leave Illinois (though not all supported joining Indiana specifically). They planned a follow-up meeting for “early 2026” but no further meetings or final report have been publicly announced or reported since. Current Status (June 2026): The commission remains in existence but has made no formal recommendation yet. No boundary change has occurred or been voted on. Even if the commission recommends a transfer, it would require: 1) Approval by both Indiana and Illinois legislatures/governors (Illinois has shown zero interest). 2) Approval by the U.S. Congress (required under the U.S. Constitution for any state boundary change). INDIANA The Executive Behind Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is Bringing Israel to the Midwest BY Tom Pigott Indiana is courting Israeli investment through a multi million dollar deal with an Israeli venture capital fund and exclusive meetings with Netanyahu's cabinet, is your state next? This week, the governor of Indiana, Mike Braun, announced a partnership with an Israeli venture capital group run by Chemi Peres, the son of former Israeli Prime Minister and architect of Israel and Apartheid South Africa’s nuclear programs, Shimon Peres. The venture capital group, Iron Nation Fund, is an overtly political project on the part of prominent Israeli investors. The firm’s own website describes its mission is “to protect and sustain Israeli innovation in the wake of the October 7th”. The group seeks to do so by attracting Israeli tech companies to the United States, more specifically Indiana, as they have received a partnership that promises them $15 million in investments from Indiana’s Economic Development Corporation. How is it that such a generous deal was cut, and what does this tell us about Indiana’s relationship to Israel and its largest industries? A prominent Evangelical Christian, Johnnie Moore, was central in the formation of this partnership. Moore was not only the executive chairman of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (accused of being “slaughter masquerading as aid”) but also CEO of the public relations firm JDA Worldwide. Following a trip to Israel, Moore made connections between Iron Nation and JDA Worldwide’s parent company, the Indianapolis-based PR firm Prolific. Prolific was one of the main movers in attracting Iron Nation to Indiana, and through them Iron Nation investors were able to travel to Indiana to meet with key groups such as the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). Both groups have numerous ties with shady entities. For example, both were central in the incubation and funding of Indiana’s Applied Research Institute. Iron Nation choosing Indiana rather than more conventional tech hubs such as San Francisco or New York City may seem unusual. However, Indiana has attracted Israeli interests for longer than it appears at first glance. Multiple Israeli companies have very large investments based in the state. Most recently, Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems corporation, which produces the Iron Dome air defense system, has started a joint venture with California’s Kratos Defense to manufacture rocket motors in Indiana. Rafael is quite literally as old as Israel, and is one of the country’s largest and most important defense companies. Now they are receiving up to $10 million from the IEDC under Governor Mike Braun to build a facility in Westgate@Crane, a technology park near Southern Indiana’s NWSC Crane, which is the world’s third largest naval base. The project is also $75 million in federal funding from the Department of Defense. Braun even attended the ground breaking ceremony. Before Braun, Governor Eric Holcomb was incentivizing the Israeli renewable energy company Doral to build a massive solar farm in Northern Indiana. The IEDC promised up to $1.5 million in support for the project, alongside a $500 million investment from Leon Black’s Apollo Global Management. Holcomb even sits on the board of Doral Renewables, notably alongside the former head of the Mossad, Yossi Cohen. Meanwhile former Indiana Governor Evan Bayh sits on the board of Apollo Global Management. Indiana’s government organ investing in Iron Nation, the IEDC, even formerly had an office based in Israel. While the current IEDC website is scrubbed of any mention of this, Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine reveals that until about July 2025 contact info for Elad Schnarch, director of the Israeli office, was prominently displayed. Furthermore, except the current governor Mike Braun, every governor since 2005 has visited Israel, with Mike Pence and Eric Holcomb going multiple times. Pence, Holcomb, Senator Joe Donnely, and Mitch Daniels all also met with Benjamin Netayahu during their trips. Pence during one trip refused to attend the Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas’ Christmas dinner. For years Indiana’s heads of state have courted the Israeli government and its industries. Some governors have done this directly, such as through Braun’s monetary support of Rafael, which is a state-owned industry. This is money flowing directly out of Indiana into Israel. At times, the mechanism for this have been even more crude. The current state treasurer, Daniel Elliott, has continued to purchase Israeli bonds, to the extent that the state of Indiana now holds $110 million in direct investment to the state of Israel. He has also met with Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to present him with gifts. Elliott had no issue meeting with him despite Smotrich previously remarking, “…no one in the world would let us starve and thirst two million citizens, even though it may be just and moral…”. Politically and economically, the United States and Israel have long seemed to operate in complete lock step with one another. However, Indiana is now proving to be a testing ground for the potential depth of this relationship. Beyond high level senators or presidents visiting the country, now state officials and even mayors are travelling to Israel. Indiana marks a new degree of complete integration between the two states. Indiana officials travel to Israel as if it were Ohio or Illinois. Joint economic initiatives are launched with neighbors, although now, instead of geographic neighbors, they are instead ideological. National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027 is a provision in the House version of the annual defense policy bill. It was added in the bill on May 26, 2026, and remains in the bill after an amendment to strike it failed in the House Armed Services Committee. Section 224 is not a new aid package or weapons sale. It is a structural change designed to make U.S.-Israel defense-tech collaboration more permanent and operationally integrated. Section 224 creates a new U.S.-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative. Key elements include: Directs the Secretary of Defense to appoint an “executive agent” inside the Pentagon to coordinate and accelerate joint U.S.-Israel work on defense technologies. Focuses on integrating Israeli-origin (and jointly developed) technologies into U.S. military programs in areas such as: 1) Counter-drone systems 2) Missile and air defense 3) Artificial intelligence and autonomous systems 4) Cyber and electronic warfare 5) Quantum computing 6) Directed energy 7) Defense industrial base co-production The partnership requires regular reports to Congress on progress and actual technology transitions into U.S. programs of record.
