The reality about this: ACTORS, you must tell your agents to LOOK at the indie film offers. They are now so used to streamers throwing money at them for you, that your agent won’t even look at smaller indie offers. YOU ARE BEING OFFERED THESE INDIE FILMS. You just don’t know it.

Additionally, NAME ACTORS: contact your favorite writers or directors and tell then you want to work together. Then they can email you back directly with a film/series offer. FAR easier to get an indie project funded with actors attached.
@JustineBateman @TheRealCharnick Problem is, this doesn’t fix the problem for the cause you guys ‘say’ you rfighting, namely streaming residuals, digital identity and extras’ benefits! You should KNOW @JustineBateman that the pain point is distribution, once these ‘indies’ get bought, residuals will be the same
@JustineBateman 🎯 Thank you for this!! There are some great agents out there. At the same time we know first hand that there are also agents who won’t even pass an indie offer along to their clients because the agent will not make enough at their 10-15% commission which is pure negligence.
@JustineBateman UNITED ARTISTS part Two. ? INDIE ARTISTS
@JustineBateman United Artists 👨🎨!!! Love your posts Justine. Let’s ALL STAY UNITED
A little more on that reality. 100% we never even get to even offer. I’ve been stonewalled by agents so many times it’s nearly impossible to get to people. to even make an offer you have to prove you have a set budget of _____ already green lit which you can’t do without a “name attached” “I’m sorry but ____ is not interested in any films under ____ budget at this time” it’s like comes from a template, And that’s without even seeing the material. As interesting an idea he’s not being Realistic neither is anyone commenting on that thread that haven’t worked in anything outside big studio movies in decades.
@JustineBateman I know it’s useless to say it, but by law the agents are supposed to present all offers that come in - streamers and indies alike.
@JustineBateman I offered an actor $500k for an indie & I couldn’t get her agent to confirm receipt of offer. Finally asst said if it wasn’t $1M it wasn’t worth HIS time. Said actor was currently shooting a Ff being paid $200k & less than half the highest billed male. She worked all days. He = 3
@JustineBateman For the record, as a moviegoer, I *prefer* indie films. The stories are so much more interesting and better executed than most of the ones cranked out by larger studios.
