Rickie Fowler heads to the 9th, his last hole - Par gives him the first 62 in U.S. Open history (more than 47,000 rounds played all-time) - Birdie gives him the first 61 in men's major championship history
@JustinRayGolf And ties course record
@JustinRayGolf Golf is a game scored & recorded in relation to par, not absolute scores. Relation to par is what matters for comparison purposes. How would a minus-9 61 compare to other major championship rounds...in relation to par? Answer: minus-9 has been shot at majors EIGHT times.
@JustinRayGolf Even a 62 (minus-8) wouldn't be US Open-historic, when properly viewed in relation to par. There's already been a minus-8 at a US Open (Johnny Miller's famous 63 in 1973), and a minus-9 at a US Open (JT, 2017).
@JustinRayGolf How many U.S. Open rounds included 10 birdies? Petty incredible.
@JustinRayGolf Reckon he will miss the cut
@JustinRayGolf I hope he doesn’t know all of this 🧘♂️🧘♂️
@JustinRayGolf Yikes… Let’s hope he lights it up on the back 9!
