Name that peak! Hint: you can see it from the park, but it’s not in the park. It towers over 10,000 ft above Palm Springs & the Coachella Valley. It’s one of the tallest peaks in Southern CA & has a tram that will take you part of the way to the top! NPS Photo/Bill Bjornstad
@JoshuaTreeNPS Mt. San Jacinto. Nice view of Snow Creek, which I climbed in 1 day in 1998. 14 hours of climbing beginning at near sea level to 10,834. Longest rise of any mountain in the contiguous US.
@JoshuaTreeNPS San Jacinto, grew up on the other side de in Hemet, spent a lot of time in those mountains.
@JoshuaTreeNPS Oh, man I miss Joshua Tree and the high desert. I have to go back sometime soon. (But I'm sad you closed that great little bookstore ☹️)
@JoshuaTreeNPS San Jacinto. My mom took preteen me up there one day because I was desperate to see snow. I thought going from the desert to a snowy peak was the coolest thing ever.
