nypost.com/2024/03/27/spo…. Why Yankees/Monty talks never got traction: (The Yankees’) idea was for $72M over four years with $40M of that — $10M per year —deferred for 10-17 years paid as $5M payments in 2034-41. (In here: the rotation hoping to keep Yanks in it until Cole’s back)
@JonHeyman Since the Yankees acted this way by not to improve the team just because they did NOT want to go over the final tax tier,I have now talked myself into NOT getting hopes up for Soto in 2025. More bad Yankee baseball business! I'll just enjoy my one season of Soto.
@JonHeyman No one with the option to choose a team is going to pick the @Yankees . Players don’t want to play for a backstabbing GM like Brian Cashman. If they have other options, they're not coming here.
@JonHeyman Huge Yankee fan here. I counted the post Soto free agency a win if we DIDNT sign these double overpriced pitchers. Bookmark it y’all thinking these dudes were worth DOUBLE due to tax
@JonHeyman They went for a stretch deal like the Dodgers which is good.Soto will be the next target for NY to do similar.
@JonHeyman @jasonms316 wanted to defer $40m for 10-17yrs? Jesus
@JonHeyman So the Yankees could have upgraded a rotation that would then be elite-level once Cole returned, and instead opted for below replacement-level to tread water in the immediate term in hopes of Cole returning bring them back to par. The Yankees haven’t been the Yankees for years.
