It is difficult to understand how a man trained in the law and deeply familiar with the workings of Washington DC can say let’s ignore the Constitution and let the people decide about presidential qualifications. We are not sleep-walking into a dictatorship rather we are just too ignorant for a democracy!

@JohnWDean @AntiToxicPeople Maine Secretary of State is a brave public servant working for Democracy’s Public Good.
@JohnWDean Ignore the Constitution. You mean this part?
Let’s not ignore the Constitution: Compare, Amds 13, 14, 15, 19, 23, 24 and 26 (“The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation”); with, Amd 18 (“The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”). No power is given to Colorado or Maine to enforce the 14th Am, unlike the 18th (prohibition) which is the only amendment to grant enforcement power to the states.
@JohnWDean @Kushbae112 There is evidence that some of these people have problems comprehending what the 14th Amendment is saying or they don’t understand the kings language and don’t have a problem backing a twice impeached president and convicted sexual abuser and under federal indictment 🤔
@JohnWDean The language is plain. And now we even have an additional finding of insurrection to back it up, not just it being a self-activating phrase.
@JohnWDean Expediency is for those without a real legal argument against applying the 14th amendment to Trump’s actions.
@JohnWDean Right! The American people should first be assured they are voting for someone who hasn’t broken the law and engaged in insurrection!
@JohnWDean Politicians think their job is politics, unfortunately.
