Over 500 deaths a day in the U.S. from Coronavirus. The average airplane holds between 150 and 200 passengers. Now imagine if there were three plane crashes each and every day. We’d be in a total panic! But 500+ COVID deaths a day? Ho, hum, business as usual.

If the Trump Republicans win the House or Senate in 2022, they will not let a Democrat who wins the Presidency take office. Think about that for a second. It would be the end of Democracy in America. That’s the danger the authoritarians now pose to the Republic.

Based upon the actions of the CDC during the entirety of this pandemic, I’d bet that they don’t have a single behavioral scientist on their payroll. Heck, I don’t think anyone at the CDC has even HEARD of behavioral science. They have been just awful at messaging.

Here is Rudy Giuliani’s defense in a nutshell: Rudy Giuliani wasn’t literally arguing that the crowd should do an illegal act. It’s just an unrelated coincidence that shortly after his speech, the crowd literally did the illegal act he told them to do.

@TheLeeBase I saw a statistic once that said that an employee with a one hour commute had to be paid 40% more to be as satisfied as someone who walks to work. Take it with a grain of salt, but still interesting, I think.

@philsplace @allahpundit I wouldn’t want to make it harder for people to get vaccinated by charging for shots. I think carrots would be more effective than sticks. Offering access to sporting events or free stuff to those who were vaccinated - that sort of thing.

I disagree with this take. Human beings often fail to do what is best for them in the long run — like saving for retirement, or giving up smoking. We are imperfect beings. There is no shame in utilizing behavioral science to “nudge” us into doing the right thing.

Baloney. I will bet you any amount that Trump will not be the Republican nominee in 2024. He will continue to influence the Republican party (in bad ways), but in 2024 he will be older, lazier, and unwilling to risk losing again. His ego simply can’t tolerate another defeat.
