SF Supes argued that parking meter increases are regressive, knowing @SFMTA_Muni would instead have to increase transit fares to protect bus service for those who need it the most.

@JoeSangirardi @SFMTA_Muni Honestly, I doubt most of them really knew what the exact consequences would be. But what was clear at the time was the lack of a plan to supplement the SFMTA budget in lieu of an extension in meter hours.
@JoeSangirardi @ArmandDoma @SFMTA_Muni is SFPark no longer setting parking meter rates? Even if you artificially increase to the baseline the prices will stabilize themselves - unless they slow down the pace of rate adjustments.
@JoeSangirardi @maxdubler @SFMTA_Muni I don’t understand why we let the ruling coalition of the Supes call themselves “progressive” when they consistently enact regressive policies. The so-called “moderates” seem to be the only ones interested in making progress, helping people who need it, and improving the city.
