Why are Solar panels being put on prime farmland when they can be put on roofs?
@Jenny_1884 That's how much of a grift the supermarkets run on farmers. Better ROI to farm sunshine.
@Jenny_1884 It's bonkers Cheaper to clean and maintain The @LibDems here have been a disaster covering prime Farmlands Out of action for 40 years now
@Jenny_1884 Probably because there are not many roofs the size of a field.
@Jenny_1884 It works if they are the particular design that lets some of the sun filter through beneath them. In this way, that same farmland can grow crops that need less sunlight. Pretty hard to scale at the moment.
@Jenny_1884 Because farmer earn more money installing solar panels than they do farming. Meanwhile UK imports 46% of food
@Jenny_1884 Because non animals foods need a fraction of the land that is needed for grazing and crops to feed animals for slaughter, and us vegans are taking over. But yeah, roof tops should be covered, and ALL new buildings should legally have to have both Solar and battery storage!
@Jenny_1884 We live in a barn conversion on 15 acres. Ground source heating wired up for solar panels (trying to be off grid as much as possible) council won’t let us put them on roof. Can have them in the fields though. Why?
