I just left a meeting with local representatives of the Mill Closure Working Group — and the message was clear. Liberal Minister Hajdu still hasn't delivered on the support promised to laid-off forestry workers. The federal government still hasn't negotiated on softwood lumber tariffs. These delays have real consequences for real families right here on Vancouver Island. Enough waiting. These workers and this vital renewable resource industry deserve action — not empty promises. Glad to see Veterans Affairs Minister McKnight visit the Langford Veterans Food Bank — the incredible work they do for our community deserves attention. But I have to be honest: as the local MP and a veteran myself, my office requested to attend and was told we weren't welcome. No supports announced. No new commitments. The wellbeing of Canada's veterans should never be a partisan issue. I hope Minister McKnight will put politics aside and work with me to support the people who served this. Our veterans deserve better.

Honoured to attend the annual Sam Sharpe Breakfast with Angel. This vital gathering brings together parliamentarians, military leaders, first responders, and healthcare professionals to address veterans' mental health and wellness. Lieutenant-Colonel Sam Sharpe was a Member of Parliament who commanded the 116th Battalion at Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, and Passchendaele. After suffering mental injuries from his service, he died by suicide in 1918. His story reminds us that not all wounds are visible. We were deeply moved by retired Sergeant Laurie White's testimony about her journey back to full duty after losing her leg in the line of duty—becoming the first RCMP officer to return with a prosthetic leg. Her courage inspires us all.
