This is how fragile the Tournament can be…last year in the 8/9 game, FAU was one egregious, late Memphis turnover away from being sent home in the First Round. FAU went to the Final Four. This year in the 8/9 game, FAU was a 1-and-1 away from a win. They miss, are taken to overtime, and sent home. This was FAU’s only double-digit loss of the year…in OT.
@JayBilas The thing that sent them home was some Kemba Walker wannabe trying to play hero ball at the end of regulation With under 10 seconds to go, and one timeout, you either: 1) Call a Timeout to draw up a good shot 2) Attack the hoop The shot he took was awful, and it cost his team
@JayBilas @supertronic3 Sports betting wasn’t legalized in Florida last year 😀
@JayBilas By egregious turnover did you mean the repeated time out requests that went ignored before the bs held ball call?
@JayBilas And of course, all of these close games are really toss-ups depending upon which reffing crew you get… now that so much physical contact is allowed and officials just have to pick and choose when to call what.
@JayBilas NC State when they beat Houston for Natty was on the verge of losing to Jim Harrick’s Pepperdine squad in the first round. I think Pepperdine missed some FTs to open the door for NC State and the rest is history.
@JayBilas Let's be fair. It wasn't a TO last year but the worst officiating moment in the tournament or nobody knows who they are and they are playing in the NIT this week
@JayBilas Give credit to Northwestern for the gutty win.
