More NCAA nonsense. College sports loses money? Please. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry that pays billions from the athletic departments to the school. And, if it’s such a money loser, why are there no spending controls on pay for coaches and administrators? Only athletes? Stop. And, stop violating federal antitrust law. apnews.com/article/ncaa-c…
@JayBilas How many college athletic programs make a profit? In 2020, only 25 programs had revenues exceeding expenses? Do you have current numbers?
@JayBilas I hope it all crashes& burns to the ground.I’m about done with the farce of college sports all together. It’s lost all meaning to me. College sports today makes a mockery of education; & as a Syracuse alum,it saddens me,but to hell w/it all. No efs left to give.Ive left the bldg
@JayBilas College sports is advertising for a product (the university) and even if the program itself isn’t revenue positive it is generating revenue for the university.
@JayBilas Who pays for scholarships for the non revenue sports? If football and basketball players get paid they will be forced to reduce access for other students to get an education
@JayBilas fellow Duke alum, I completely agree. Also know that lots of these stats ignore the incremental tuition $$ that non-revenue sports bring most universities. This is why track and lax with huge rosters and few scholarships are often the most "profitable" sports at many schools
@JayBilas Daughter is a UNC sophomore. Takes $5k in loans every year b/c UNC reduces her Grant in Aid by the amount of her scholarships so that she ALWAYS BORROWS. THey built a $25 MILLION TENNIS COMPLEX this year. College athletic complexes are thievery.
@JayBilas NCAA has lost the plot and unfortunately the result will be the major sports turn into new ‘G leagues’. Sad. I’ve always loved college BBall because it was ‘pure’. Now it’s just NBA-lite. And I hate the NBA.
