The final resting place of one of the Navy’s finest, Admiral Chester Nimitz, at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California. 🇺🇸
@Jason_R_Burt @Charles50082810 Took very good care of my dad in the pacific. 23 months aboard ship with no shore leave. He and mom were married in Honolulu one month before Dec. 7, 1941. Nimitz was a god.
@Jason_R_Burt Here’s his birthplace, in Fredericksburg, Texas..
@Jason_R_Burt Arguably the finest american leader in WWII
@Jason_R_Burt Always figured he was buried somewhere in Texas. Why CA?
@Jason_R_Burt Highway 17 in the East Bay, it's called the Nimitz highway. It runs past Alameda which was a very large naval facility as well as other governmental locations in the East Bay. Oakland California
@Jason_R_Burt The stress he had to endure during wartime.
@Jason_R_Burt Won’t see too many stones with FADM. MacArthur/Halsey got the headlines. Nimitz executed. Never got the credit he deserved, best part about this guy is, he didn’t need it, he let his work speak for itself. His leadership in the PAC theater won the war. True American hero.
