The deal failed four tests: end enrichment, verification before relief, the material under outside control, every dollar reversible. Whatever comes out of the next negotiation faces the same four. The Take Care of America's Veterans Act advanced today, but it still cuts the disability benefits of future veterans, with tinnitus and sleep apnea, the wounds the men who carried me off the battlefield came home with. These aren't benefits. They're debts. You don't pay one veteran by cutting another. This fight isn't over. jsonline.com/story/news/nat…

I recorded this for the Wisconsin VFW, and I mean every word. The Major Richard Star Act would help more than 50,000 combat-wounded veterans like me. But the current bill pays for it by cutting the disability benefits of future veterans with tinnitus and sleep apnea, the exact wounds the men who carried me off the battlefield came home with.
