Where am I spending energy trying to please someone who actually doesn't care?
@JamesClear Spend your energy for the people who care about you and especially for yourself. remember that you are the main character in your own life.
@JamesClear If you don't define and work toward your own goal, your energy will be exploited to bring about someone else's.
@JamesClear Damn, that's a great question. I'm asking myself that today, James. Thanks for the prompt.
People pleasing can be treacherous sometimes. It's a common trap that many people face. First, identify the energy sucker in your life. It could be a boss, a friend, a family member, or even a romantic partner. Once you have identified that person, observe how much time and effort you are investing in trying to make them happy. Are you constantly bending over backwards to accommodate their needs while neglecting your own? Now, assess their level of care. Do they reciprocate your efforts? Do they show genuine appreciation and concern for your wellbeing and what you are doing for them? If the answer is a resounding "no," then it's time to reevaluate your relationship with this energy vampire. Remember, you are the writer of your own story, not a character in someone else's. Focus on nurturing relationships with those who genuinely care about you and invest in your own happiness. Life is too short to waste on those who don't appreciate your efforts. That's what I call "being outstanding"💯
@JamesClear Good question to consider, this type of situation is not worth the time or energy invested.
@JamesClear Isn't this our life? But most never take that leap of faith, why? Thinking what others might think or they may call them crazy. So what? I would be happy to have a fulfilling life while being called crazy.
@JamesClear To probe deeper: Why do I do this? What beliefs make me more likely to do so? What can I do to make it less likely or stop altogether?
@JamesClear Been there! Redirecting my energy towards those who genuinely care and reciprocate has made life much lighter. Time to focus on the ones who matter! 💪🤗
