The Yankees acquire Jon Berti for much-needed infield depth, shed Ben Rortvedt (who was out of options) and deal a top 30 prospect in John Cruz. After the Oswald Peraza injury, the belief was that the Yankees would an infielder before Opening Day.

@JackCurryYES Who thinks ofraudo should start over Berti?
@JackCurryYES I understand moving Rortvedt and I am not a prospect hugger but why are @Yankees trading a top 30 prospect who is 18 and hit 10 HR in rookie ball for a 34 year old utility IF/OF with zero bat?
@JackCurryYES decent player. still think 80-85 wins seems about right with this roster. too many question marks and not enough quality additions in my humble opinion.
@JackCurryYES Coming from a Marlin fan, you will love Jon Berti. He can do a lot of things and does them all well. A class act, a great dude and a winning player. Better than DJ at this stage. He will be sorely missed in Miami. Best of success to Bert. Go get em brother.
@JackCurryYES Cashman always turning "lose him for nothing" in to excellent value. Love that guy!
