Class 6A, A 13 SB at Mortimer Jordan Monday - Cullman vs. MJ 12:30 & 2:30. Winner is area champion. Both are qualified for the North Regional at Florence the following week. Good season for Cullman 23-14-1.

Next weekend is AHSAA state track and field meet for small schools at Cullman HS. Cold Springs, Holly Pond and Vinemont have qualified from good efforts in the sectionals Friday and Saturday. Flash will be the play by play voice with Rich Jesse for the NFHS from Woodard Stadium.

Local SB teams still alive in the area playoffs are Good Hope, Vinemont & Cullman. GH and VM must win Monday to qualify for the regionals. Cullman is playing for top spot in 2 team area with Mortimer Jordan. CS and HP play in area games Monday.

Considering coaching changes to happen at Wallace State in 4 sports, a good year of athletics once again. SB wins conference regular season title, tennis teams won the ACCC crown earlier this week, BB has made the playoffs, GF is waiting to play in their next round of postseason.

Flash is letting this become public. He is retiring as PA announcer for Wallace State CC athletics next weekend. Flash thanks the WSCC people for 2 years in the role of being voice for men and women's BK, volleyball, baseball and softball. So grateful for this in my career.

Wallace State SB is ACCC regular season champion after sweep of NW Shoals Saturday at home, 10 to 1 and 12 to 1. Lady Lions are 15 & 5 in the conference, 28 & 12 on the season. One week left for Lady Lions prior to the ACCC Tournament in Alabaster week of May 6.

Flash took in girls travel basketball game from Vinemont. Former Susan Moore player Lani Smallwood, now at Albertville performed well in a 59 to 48 victory against Southern Starz Blackmon. Battled hard against former Vinemont cager Whitney Quick, now at Fairview.

Four sophomores have been on the DL for much of the season. The Lions got back OF Nash Rippen last week, recovering from a broken finger. DH Logan Green is now on the DL with a hamstring issue. Green is a freshman. WSCC is 7 & 3 in last 10 games in April in showing true grit.

Very good to see a ball club like Wallace State BB continue to play hard as they have been hit with a series of injuries in 2024. They are in the ACCC playoffs, so they have extended their season into the 1st week of May and getting to play at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
