RECRUITs: Here is a Transfer Portal history lesson… #Recruiting101
@JR_Sandlin Schools should refuse to take kids back after they enter the portal. With a better than 50% chance you're giving up your scholarship, perhaps some would think twice about dipping their feet in the NIL pool. 🤔. As a coach, I'd want loyal kids.
@JR_Sandlin Thanks for sharing this. maybe if NFL scouts would give more looks to those D2,D3,NAIA schools D1 wouldn’t be all the hype where so many rosters are filled but many never see the field!Or maybe if college recruits would focus less on the eye test and more on skill and character
@JR_Sandlin @MBHORNSFAN Using misleading numbers as a fear tactic. Very cool. 👍
@JR_Sandlin Some D1 programs are more interested in 23 year old graduate students and less about developing the incoming undergraduate athletes, because it’s easier path to winning. Why?
@JR_Sandlin This isn't news to the players. The lesson is understanding why these kids are still willing to take the risk despite knowing what they're giving up. The redundant PSA isn't helping.
@JR_Sandlin @CoachB_ABCA Football is very different than baseball (headcount vs. equivalency). Be curious what numbers @InsightsCollege has over this time frame.
@JR_Sandlin And this is a good thing? Are you bragging about the 40%? The problem is the 60% that weren’t placed. This system is failing kids. What was so wrong with college sports 5 years ago that this had to be instituted?
@JR_Sandlin What happened to the other 60%? Did they return to their previous school? Give up the game? What?
@JR_Sandlin Yeah I really don’t like the portal. How can a player develop when they transfer out because the weren’t a starter on a P5 team as a freshman? Kids don’t trust the process anymore and are conditioned to have instant gratification
