@NavyStrang Inasmuch as the bulk of GWOT was more about vengeance & hubris, I don’t see it to be worthy as a WAR MEMORIAL, as a memorial to the fallen, yes. As a “war”, GWOT achieved nothing. Just look at who our leaders. Why celebrate a war we lost. Tribute to the fallen? Yes indeed.

@Pappy_BigTenCFB @DrDave_99 Because I worked as a coop in SoCal, with school in the Bay Area, I got a lot of "LA scene" before you got there. I was in LB so it was a bit of a drive to the "strip: etc. I saw the roots of the the Beach Boys, which was ripe then, but never the BB themselves.

@NJP_Productions A diesel locomotive final drive is electric motors between the wheels. It doesn’t take much water to short these out. Steam locomotives are entirely mechanical &, until enough water puts the fires out & steam pressure is gone, it will still go. Surely it will need more shop time.

@Pappy_BigTenCFB @DrDave_99 I'm no judge any more bc of my deafness, but until the loss, I've been amazed at the number & quality of locals here & it's the full range of music. I fully experienced the San Francisco music scene from 1958 through the 60s, not to mention comedy. I really didn't miss much.

@HiddenHistoryYT These were mortal wounds. USS Franklin (CV-13) never saw active duty again. Although repairs were begun, given the size of the fleet & post war needs, they were terminated & Franklin went into the reserve fleet until she was scrapped in 1966.
