Before the days of Facebook, I was on a huge health forum and had the biggest private group focusing on natural and alternative health. Some guy joined and started posting about how he had been diagnosed as schizophrenic and put in a mental health ward for a long period of time. His father did a bunch of research and found that a lot of the chemicals in the food additives can trigger schizophrenic-like behavior in those sensitive to it. The dad got him out of the place, and they cleaned up his diet and he regained his sanity. This guy messaged me several times and we talked about it via DMs. It was very interesting hearing his story.

@JDaviesPhD Can we talk about buprion and modafinil… This what I’ve been prescribed for adhd and narcolepsy
@JDaviesPhD @DrDJWilde They weren’t ill enough to need these medications in the first place then? My partner becomes extremely ill if she comes off mood stabilisers and antipsychotics. So I don’t see how this study adds up 🤦🏻♀️
@JDaviesPhD We need to be clear: these medicines don’t have targeted “anti-psychotic” properties; they should really be known as the “second/third generation major tranquilisers”.
@JDaviesPhD Better for those with medication induced symptoms misdiagnosed as schizophrenic type disorders too. Once the medication induced psychosis has settled down and any symptoms during withdrawal are noted as such and not relapse
@JDaviesPhD 'any conclusions regarding the long-term benefits of antipsychotic treatment or discontinuation for functional recovery are premature' That's what it says in the abstract
