Big pro-Palestinian march passing by City Hall. Looks like NYPD proactively blocked one, lesser-used entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge, and marchers are, for now, sticking to the pedestrian path while cars keep flowing in both directions.
Pro-Palestine protesters have now blocked auto traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge coming into Manhattan. NYPD is blocking Brooklyn-bound foot traffic, but allowing folks to walk into Manhattan.
Video shared by a protester appears to show NYPD Deputy Chief Timothy Beaudette responding to a verbal taunt by striking another protester in the head with a walkie talkie. I don’t know what went down before or after this.
Westbound traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge was closed for about an hour, as part of a “Coordinated Economic Blockade to Free Palestine” with other actions across the country - but the bridge has just now reopened to cars, after apparent arrests.
