First episode of a series on pro-Russian networks in Italy. Italian Orthodox deacon Adriano Frinchi is closely linked to the Exarchate of Belarus—which falls under the jurisdiction of the Russian Church and its propaganda conduits, such as Savva Mazhuko, whom Frinchi visited in August 2026. Savva Mazhuko is part of the same religious apparatus that actively serves the Kremlin, much like the "Z-nuns." As a reminder, Italy—along with Bulgaria—opposed the imposition of sanctions against Patriarch Kirill. @ch_vision_by @shalt_not_kill @Belsat_Eng @Belsat_TV

"How do Russia's church and military footprints overlap?" We will never forget Charles Waithaka Wangari from Kenya, nor all the others recruited by the Russian Church for the front in Ukraine... Let us not forget Ethiopia either, which is a priority objective for the Moscow Patriarchate due to its Tewahedo Church—the foremost Oriental Orthodox church in Africa. @United24media @meduzaproject @OrthodoxUkraine

🔴 Russia’s Orthodox Church has grown to 350 parishes across Africa in four years. As questions rise over its ties to Moscow’s military presence, the Church insists: “We don’t recruit Africans for military service.” 🧵 1/6 ⬇️

This morning, a Russian guided bomb struck Good News Church in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, during Sunday morning hours. Pastor Viktor Pavenko has served this city for more than 35 years. His church runs an important bread ministry for the poor and for people who have no family left to care for them. Our teammate Karl Ahlgren slept in this building a few weeks ago while delivering aid. By God’s grace, no one was inside or injured in the attack on the church. Kramatorsk is under heavy bombardment. Ten days ago, a glide bomb hit buses in the city and killed at least 30 people. 🙏 Please pray for Pastor Viktor and his congregation as they work out how to keep feeding their neighbors. Pray for the people of Kramatorsk. And pray for those who launched this bomb, that their hearts would turn (Matthew 5:44). 🤲 Help us tell their story. Share this post. #Ukraine #Church #Kramatorsk #Breakingnews #PrayforUkraine

This is what remains of St. Macarius Church of Toretsk, a Ukrainian Orthodox Church that was built in 1906 (120 Years Old), completely destroyed by Russian shelling in 2024/2025. The church suffered initial damage from local shellings in March 2023 and March 2024, when a

FAITH-NUCLEAR NEXUS : « By the second decade of the twenty-first century, the clergy and religiosity had penetrated not only the rituals but also the professional worldview and modus operandi of the nuclear industry. » — Dima Adamsky On October 10, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Turkey, at the Chapel of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, located at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, currently under construction in Turkey's Mersin province. Attendees included personnel from Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, a Rosatom subsidiary that is building and will operate Turkey's first nuclear power plant (four VVER-1200 reactors), and from NEPT JSC, a Russian company founded in 1999 that specializes in technical systems for the physical protection and security of facilities. Russian clergy members Georgy Sergeyev and Pallady Bystrov were accompanied by Bishop Paul of Tarsus, representing the Patriarchate of Antioch.

@InsiderEng : Cypriot #MEP Fidias Panayiotou has shown himself to be sympathetic toward the Russian authorities, advocating for friendly relations with them—a stance he links to his Orthodox Christian faith. His wedding, held at the Russian church in Limassol in April 2026, serves as a perfect illustration of this—all the more so given that this church maintains close ties to the Orthodox Palestine Society, which is led by former Federal Security Service (FSB) director Sergei Stepashin and supports Russian troops in Ukraine.

Ukraine is tracking Russia’s every move. After the Sahel, Southern Africa has become a new front. This time, the rivalry centers on religious influence. While the Russian Exarchate in Africa was holding a meeting in Madagascar on October 1 with the leadership of the "Africa Corps"-bringing together Russian priest Dmitry Matienko, who had traveled from Mauritius, and a member of his Malagasy clergy-Ukraine countered in Maputo, Mozambique. On October 6, 2026, Father @cyril_hovorun, a "diplomat" for the @OrthodoxUkraine, joined Ukrainian Ambassador @RTronenko and the Apostolic Nuncio to Mozambique, Archbishop Luís Miguel Muñoz Cárdaba, for a discussion on peace, diplomacy, and spiritual solidarity. #AfricaInsight @UAemMZ #Vatican @HEI_LMU_LA

Insight Montenegro : Rybar in Montenegro, when russian influence flows through a serbian monastery It is significant that Mikhail Zvinchuk—founder of the Rybar channel—was arrested and subsequently expelled from Montenegro, a country he had visited partly to film the Serbian monastery of Cetinje. Rybar actively supports the Russian religious Comintern across all continents, including Europe and, more recently, Africa and Latin America. This monastery is no stranger to Russian networks. In Montenegro, the Serbian Orthodox Church exerts strong influence over public opinion, remaining the primary vehicle for the "Serbian World" concept and pro-Russian sentiment. This iconic site is frequently visited by the pilgrimage division of the sprawling Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society—an organization active worldwide and led by Sergei Stepashin, former director of the Russian Federation's Federal Counter-Intelligence Service. A visit by pilgrims from this organization is notably scheduled for July 2026. In addition to visits by Russian hierarchs—such as the one from St. Petersburg in 2024—the SPAS TV channel also promoted the Cetinje monastery in the early 2020s. Rybar’s presence thus fits into the broader context of the expansion of Russian politico-religious networks in Montenegro.

On 6 October 2026, Fr Cyril Hovorun joined Ukraine’s Ambassador Rostyslav Tronenko and the Apostolic Nuncio to Mozambique, Archbishop Luís Miguel Muñoz Cárdaba, for a discussion on peace, diplomacy and spiritual solidarity.

In an interview given to the media @FreedomNewsUA in January 2026, @sakenaim discusses the parallels emerging between Iran and its closest ally, Russia, as well as the notion that the Ayatollahs' regime represents a sort of dream for Patriarch Kirill. Theologian @cyril_hovorun archimandrite and former associate of the Moscow Patriarchate who is now a critic of Kirill and a diplomat for the @OrthodoxUkraine —confirms this: "Kirill dreams of theocracy," he asserts, adding that the Patriarch personally told him he viewed Iran as an ideal. This statement takes on particular resonance during the week commemorating #October7. Beyond Hamas's religious ties to Moscow, one cannot overlook Iran's support for the group. A key point of convergence is, once again, the use of religious diplomacy-a practice not limited to Islam. According to Hovorun, while official Russian rhetoric speaks of a "symphony" between Church and State, Kirill’s actual ambition appears to be theocratic-modeled on Iran-even though he recognizes its impossibility in Russia. With its hierarchical, clerical structure, Russian Orthodoxy finds a certain resonance in the model of the Shiite clergy. These relationships predate the war in Ukraine; during a visit to Iran in 1995, Kirill himself helped establish a commission for dialogue between Orthodoxy and Islam. A symbolic illustration of this was the meeting held in Moscow in September 2024 between the Patriarch and Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization. According to a statement from the Church’s Department for External Relations, "Orthodox believers share many common positions with representatives of Islam regarding moral issues and the role of religion in public life." This is a stance that goes beyond mere interfaith dialogue... @CormacS63

Sweden: An Example for Europe. The Christian Council of Sweden has suspended the membership of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), deeming the security situation to make any cooperation impossible. By late 2025, the Church of Sweden had already warned its parishes about nuns from the St. Elizabeth Convent in Minsk, whom it accuses of funding the Russian war effort and maintaining close ties with Russian military intelligence. Western European countries would do well to be more vigilant regarding this Russian religious channel. Switzerland-long aligned with Sweden through its policy of non-alignment-is not immune... On May 2 and 3, 2026, these "Z-Nuns" with an unconventional profile visited the Russian parish in Zurich belonging to the Diocese of Chersonesus and Western Europe-a parish linked to oligarch Vadim Novinskiy, who is now a Serbian citizen... #Belarusinsight @shalt_not_kill @ch_vision_by @JohannaNyman5
