Maybe you thought US learned its lesson about ramming highways thru cities. Maybe you thought we were starting to get serious about climate change. Then you haven’t looked at PennDot’s study for rebuilding I-95 in Philly. I did & here’s my column: bit.ly/47KwHHH
@IngaSaffron I'm a South Philly resident who is against this highway widening. How do I get involved?
@IngaSaffron Thank you. I’m a new homeowner in a likely impacted area and thank you for also affirming that the website they set up was indeed confusing and anxiety-inducing.
@IngaSaffron We should be building things that will connect communities and encourage economic growth like the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway! Instead, they want to widen highways.
@IngaSaffron God for bid you need a mass evacuation what are all the urbanites going to do? You should have a proper highway especially one this big especially for economic reasons! You have all the sports complexes!
@IngaSaffron From my LoMo civic assn newsletter: PennDOT was "surprised" by how many people weighed in and wanted to preserve the sports fields. PennDOT simply has no stake in this city and merely sees I-95 as an aspect of some city builder game, not a real thing that impacts real people.
@IngaSaffron Thank you for this write-up on a very confusing PennDOT site that seemed to only offer more roadway and nothing else! PennDOT priorities are clear even if their site is not.
