Some of you have never had the joy of having a loss of propulsion or loss of steering during the maneuvering watch/sea and anchor and it shows.

@IndefiniteLT I was aboard a Carrier when we lost steering in the middle of a high-speed turn. I was in the hanger bay and the horizon disappeared upwards. The crew got a fresh lesson on having things stowed properly.

@IndefiniteLT Lieutenant I have a question. Don’t large freighters have navigation that plots there courses. If so and they are not on course isn’t that what the tugs are for?
@IndefiniteLT Would an experienced harbor pilot or ship captain have been able to prevent the Baltimore collision given the timing of the power outage/steering casualty? Would that depend on whether the ship was on course entering the harbor?
